Notre Dame Fighting Irish fall to USC

Fans looking to get their hands on Notre Dame Football Tickets will have to get in line for next year’s games it seems. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish didn’t have what it takes to take on the USC Trojans on Saturday as the Irish lost 44-24. Notre Dame Coach Charlie Weis could do nothing but watch and wait in hoodie as the grandeur of Hollywood and USC swamped his Irish on the field.

This one was a must-win for the Irish to the point that even a victory did not guarantee a ticket to the championship game against Ohio State.

Maybe the Chicago-Sun Times had the best line of all to sum up the game. “When [USC’s Dwayne] Jarrett soared near the Goodyear blimp in the third quarter to make an acrobatic one-handed catch, then made another such grab early in the fourth, the plays told the smattering of green-clad fans that the Irish still aren’t ready for prime-time, championship living.”

Brady Quinn will graduate winless against USC

The Irish lost two games this season, one to Michigan and one to USC. The Irish lost 47-21 against Michigan back in September and lost 44-24 yesterday to USC. The last time the Irish allowed 44 points in two different games was fifty years ago and now Irish senior Brady Quinn will join about 35 other Irish seniors to graduate without having ever beaten USC.
