Notre Dame Fighting Irish: Championship Bowl

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish simply couldn’t get it together and got out-shined in every aspect of the game on Saturday, losing to the USC Trojans.  This loss effectively killed Notre Dame’s hopes of playing in the Bowl Championship Series and many are speculating still who Ohio State will have the chance to play.  Still, Notre Dame Football Tickets are available for next season when the Irish will open at home on September 1 against Georgia Tech.

The funny thing about looking at the box score to the Notre Dame – USC game is that, by all accounts, the game ought to have been very close.  USC had 21 first downs to Notre Dame’s 18.  USC had 139 rushing yards to Notre Dame’s 130.  USC had 265 passing yards to Notre Dame’s 274.  Yet somehow these figures added up to a 20-point loss for the Irish.

The Irish could not hold off the Trojans

Some are suggesting that Notre Dame simply does not have the same caliber of players as some of the very best teams in the country.  Sure, they can compete with the likes of Michigan or USC, but they have to be nearly perfect if they want to stand a chance of winning.  Either way, now we just have to wait and see who the Irish will get to play for a Bowl game.
