Recruiting Season for Fighting Irish

Spring football camp has just ended, but that doesn’t mean that the coaches, and even the players, at the University of Notre Dame can call it quits for the year. Nope, this is actually one of the most pivotal months of the year. Yes, we are knee-deep in recruiting season!

High school seniors all over the country are preparing to make one of the most important decisions of their lives- which college they will attend next fall and for the next four or five years. College coaches, like Charlie Weis of Notre Dame, will be trying through varrying and, might I add, increasingly creepy means to help sway potential Irish players.

Take Marcus Forston, a DT from Miami Northwestern High School. ND coach Brenie Parmalee is his recruiter. He makes visits to the campus trying to “accidentally” bump into the boy, and send him vaguely inspiring text messages-though much controversy has been made of texting. Recently Parmalee sent Forston a message that read: “A component to greatness is the determination to get better; Take care, Coach Parmalee.”
