Knute Rockne: Notre Dame’s Greatest Coach?

Who do you think is the greatest Notre Dame coach of all time? Many would tell you that they believe Knute Rockne is. One thing is for sure, Knute has the numbers on his side. In his 13 seasons as the head coach of America’s favorite team, Rockne amassed the highest wining percentage of any coach in history (.881). His totals are: 105 wins, 12 losses and 5 ties.

Rockne also was the coach during several of the most memorable Notre Dame football moments and teams, including the “win one for the Gipper” speech. He was coach of the famous “Four Horsemen of Notre Dame” in the mid ’20s. As a player, Knute Rockne wasn’t bad either, but he will always be remembered as one of the greatest coaches in college football of all time.

If StubHub.com could sell you some Notre Dame Fighting Irish tickets for games in which Knute Rockne was the coach, I’m sure they would. However, we will just have to settle for coach Charlie Weis until we can invent the time machine.
