ND’s Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

ESPN and Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook have compiled a great summary of the situation for D-I college football programs, including your favorite team, the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish. If you take a look at the section about the current situation with the receivers and tight ends, you will probably end up being very optimistic about what this squad can do next season.

One of the most promising areas of the team is the tight end position, which looks to be filled by senior John Carlson. This guy is big and athletic, and will make an excellent target no matter who is the QB this year. Assuming that the QB will have a rough start, third option short passes to Carlson will be all the more prevalent. He was on course last season to set receiving and yardage records for Irish tight ends.

Junior David Grimes is probably going to be the number one receiver. He lacks size, but has proven that he can get decent yardage after the catch. The rest of the crew that will compete for time will be sophomore George West, sophomore D.J. Hord, sophomore Robby Parris and frosh Duval Kamara and Golden Tate.
