Weis is a “Good Guy”

Notre Dame Football coach Charlie Weis is one of the good guys, so writes Gene Wojciechowski of ESPN. With all of the stories about bad pro athletes and bad celebrities, from doping to dog fighting to driving drunk or fixing games, it is always necessary to remember that there are a lot of good people out there in the sports world doing really great things to improve the world. Charlie Weis has made his cause helping those people with mental and physical disorders. His daughter Hannah is diagnosed with what is called global developmental delays. He and his wife have started the foundation called Hannah and Friends, a non-profit program that is opening up a facility to help people with developmental disorders.

Here’s to you, Charlie Weis, and everybody else like you. The article goes on to name a few more people doing similar good things to help people and causes, but there are a lot of great pro athletes who are currently doing good things that we never hear about. A few bad apples seem to grab the headlines a lot, and that is unfortunate. There ought to be more articles like this one, but that kind of stuff just isn’t very juicy as far as sports or celebrity news. What a shame.
