So we’re reviewing the pre-season write up that ESPN.com and Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook gave Notre Dame. Yesterday was the coaches and today is the quarterbacks. As you should well know, the QB situation in South Bend is one of the most intriguing predicaments in the nation. Zach Frazer is out, Evan Sharpley, Demetrious Jones and Jimmy Clausen are in, but nobody knows who is going to get the starting job when the season starts.
The one spin that ESPN.com puts on it is that they feel like coach Charlie Weis is secretly hoping that Jimmy Clausen wins the competition for the starting QB job. He might very well be hoping that Clausen, who was one of the most high-profile recruits a few years ago, can be a starter on the team for three years. If you can have a consistently good QB for a long time, then that QB has time to learn the system better, thus making him more of a contributor to your team’s success.
Make sure to keep up to date on the situation with the quarterback at ND, and keep searching StubHub.com for some Notre Dame Fighting Irish football tickets.
The University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish will have some mighty fine coaches on the sidelines this year, at least so says the NCAA football analysts at ESPN.com. In association with Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook, ESPN has given the Notre Dame coaching staff a very positive review and preview heading in to the season this next year. The way they see it, Weis has surrounded himself with assistant coaches and coordinators who understand the unique position that Notre Dame football players are in, and, most of all, know how to succeed.
For example, Weis brought in a quarterback coach, Ron Powlus, who used to be one of the most highly anticipated Notre Dame QBs of all time. Powlus had, by most standards, an amazing career in South Bend, and could impart a lot of personal knowledge on a player like Jimmy Clausen, who might well receive the reigns of the Fighting Irish offense this fall after being one of the most sought-after high school football players in the country.
Where Weis lacks in experience at playing the game, his assistants can fill in. You will get to see the coaches on the sideline this year when you got to StubHub.com to get Notre Dame Fighting Irish football tickets.
One of the most obvious ways to identify a Notre Dame player on the field is through his jersey number, making it one of the most important aspects of the game in some ways. So clearly the assignment of numbers is something that players take a lot of stake in, and fans will be interested to know the numbers of the newest players on the Notre Dame roster. Jimmy Clausen is going to be number 7, in case he gets the starting QB position. The other numbers that got handed out are as follows:
14 - Brandon Walker
18 - Duval Kamara
23 - Golden Tate
30 - Harrison Smith
33 - Robert Hughes
47 - Aaron Nagel
50 - Steve Paskorz
56 - Kerry Neal
58 - Brian Smith
70 - Matt Romine
75 - Taylor Dever
76 - Andrew Nuss
83 - Mike Ragone
91 - Emeka Nwankwo
95 - Ian Williams
So try to commit these names and numbers to memory, otherwise you will still be looking down at your program halfway through the season to see which players are which. Of curse, the best way to learn something is to experience it, that’s why getting Notre Dame Fighting Irish tickets at StubHub.com is so important.
Luckily for you ESPN.com has decided that it will showcase some college football team previews for free, though they would normally be in the paid-for “Insider” section. ESPN usually does a pretty fair assessment of each team, though you can’t help but question some of their predictions, and more than a few people consider large media outlets like ESPN to be easier on teams that are in a bigger market. ESPN has teamed with Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook for this assignment.
Anyways, you can judge for yourself when you take a look at the 2008 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team preview. It is rather extensive and exhaustive, and we could probably take a number of blogs going through and analyzing the analysis of each position and aspect of the upcoming season. So what grades did the Irish get? You might be surprised to find out that despite losing a lot of offensive weapons, the Irish were given a B in that category.
Special Teams got an A, Defense got a B+ and Intangibles got a B+ as well. Not bad. Things look promising for those of you who have gotten Notre Dame Fighting Irish tickets at StubHub.com.
Yesterday we gave you the top two Notre Dame home games, in our own humble opinion, for you to get Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football tickets to attend. Seeing a game at Notre Dame Stadium, with all of the passion, history, and excitement of game day in South Bend, is like almost nothing else in sports today. Of course, some fans of the Irish cannot travel all the way to Notre Dame, and some would like to see them compete on the road at other great venues. This is fine with us, but just remember that you will have to get your tickets at the home team’s StubHub.com page to do that. So here they are, the best two ND road games to see in 2007-08:
September 15 at Michigan. The Irish have a long-standing and fierce rivalry with the Wolverines. If there is one school that knows how to make the atmosphere on game day electric (besides the Irish) it is probably the University of Michigan. If you show up in Notre Dame gear, be prepared to take some guff, but you will get to see one heck of a game played at a school that is crazy about football.
November 24th at Stanford. This second game I chose over away games at Perdue, Penn State and UCLA, more traditional rivals with Notre Dame. Here’s why: The Irish have a very tough schedule this year, so when they see a team like the Cardinal at the end of the season, you know the players will put forth their best effort to make a case for a bowl game. If you want to see the Irish win on the road, where better to do it than in beautiful Palo Alto, California?
Before you go out to get your University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football tickets at StuhHub.com, you might want to first decide which ones to get. Well, the Irish, as you might have already heard, have been given one a schedule that many experts believe to be one of the ten toughest D-I NCAA football schedules in the nation. Of course, many of us would like to see all of the games at Notre Dame Stadium, but our budget doesn’t allow for that kind of thing. So if you have to limit yourself to two home games, these are the ones I recommend:
October 13th vs. Boston College. This game should be a good one because it has some storyline to it: both schools are private and associated with the Catholic Church. Plus they used to have a minor feud that might be better than the supposed rivalries the Irish have with the military academies.
October 20th vs. USC. The very next weekend will be one of the biggest rivalry games in all of college football, the annual meeting with ND’s most hated rival, the Trojans of Southern California. If this game doesn’t get your blood boiling, we can’t help you. You probably should let a more deserving fan get these tickets.
Court proceeding ended in dramatic fashion after a juror in Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis’ malpractice trial fainted before the deliberations could begin. The two accused doctors rushed to the assistance of the fainted juror. The judge then called a mistrial after another juror admitted that he would not be able to put the thought of the two doctors’ help for the fallen juror out of his mind.
Weis was in court attempting to sue two Massachusetts surgeons for what he claims was malpractice during and after a botched gastric bypass surgery while Weis was an assistant for the New England Patriots. Famed Pats QB Tom Brady was a witness in the trial.
Do you smell the plot of a prime time law drama? Well I do. I also smell a sound defeat for Mr. Weis, who, apparently, is going to fight an uphill battle against the doctors. It is very hard to win a malpractice suit against doctors, especially in New England, and especially when you aren’t a very sympathetic character, being that you have, arguably, the most prestigious coaching job in America. This is not to say that Weis’ argument isn’t just- it might very well be- but he will probably not win in court. Still, he might win on the football field, and you can get Notre Dame Fighting Irish football tickets to see him do just that at StubHub.com.
A few days ago Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com went through the 2007 schedules of all of the NCAA football teams and determined that Notre Dame has one of the top 10 most difficult schedules. In fact, Notre Dame made number 10 on the list, with Washington, Florida State and South Carolina at the top of the list.
Schlabach notes that the Fighting Irish will do battle with several top ranked teams, including Georgia Tech, USC, Michigan, Penn State, Boston College and UCLA. Their easiest game will be at home against Duke. They will also face off against two military academies. If you really want to see an Irish victory, then you should consider those three games. Otherwise, there are going to be a lot of close games in 2007.
This is a good thing for those of you who are going to be getting Notre Dame Fighting Irish football tickets at StubHub.com. Probably the best game of the bunch will be the home opener against USC, one of the best college football teams in recent years, and probably the Irish’s most hated rivals. If you would like to travel to see the team, then consider getting tickets to watch the Irish take on the Wolverines in another traditional rivalry game at Michigan.
Quarterback Zach Frazer has decided that he will take his services from the University of Notre Dame to UConn, where he intends to help the Huskies win a Big East football title. This news comes from a few days ago, when Frazer’s father announced to the media that, although Frazer would have like to be the QB at Notre Dame, he has decided to transfer schools in order to get a shot at starting. Weeks ago Irish Coach Charlie Weis made it clear that Frazer was not one of the three players competing for the starting job.
So it has finally happened, The stage has been set for the future Notre Dame Fighting Irish-Connecticut Huskies football game wherein Frazer defeats the school that so painfully rejected him years ago. It is only a matter of time. When that day comes, that the Notre Dame schedule has UConn as a home game, you must get Notre Dame Fighting Irish football tickets at Stubhub.com to see the vengeance live. Frazer will have to sit out this year, as per NCAA rules, but after that, he will likely be the starting QB for the Huskies, with a chip on his shoulder and a score to settle with the Irish.
If you are a true Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan, you probably have the movie Rudy in both VHS and DVD. You can probably tell people that you’ve memorized every line of the film, though a few of the beginning parts are fuzzy enough that, if called out on that claim, you can’t actually do it. No matter. You are well aware of the fact that at the end of the movie, you learn that this is the true story, though slightly exaggerated, about the story of Dan Ruettiger and his dream to play Notre Dame Football.
The film has a scene of him sacking the quarterback at Notre Dame’s last home game of the 1975 season. If you go on YouTube.com and type in Notre Dame or Rudy, there will be an actual game clip of that moment where Rudy sacks the Georgia Tech QB. The announcer does not know the players name, and thus fails to credit Rudy with the sack. In the film he is also in on the special teams play, but the kickoff went out of bounds, so you can see Rudy run for about 60 yards as well.
