Notre Dame Looks Ahead

There’s been a lot of talk about the game last weekend, because Notre Dame lost to Navy, and that never happens. In all of the digestion and hype, we here at the Fighting Irish blog have forgotten to focus on the game coming up. The Irish will play the Air Force Falcons this Saturday, and it would be great if you were to get some tickets to see it go down live. If you saw the Navy game, you saw one of Notre Dame’s best offensive performances of the year. The Irish played like they could win the game, and that’s a breath of fresh air for a lot of loyal fans in South Bend and the rest of the United States.

Do the Irish have a better shot of beating the Falcons than they did against the Midshipmen? Well, by the numbers, we can see that the Falcons are better than the Irish in a few key areas, but worse in a few others. The Irish are better at both passing and defending the pass, but Air Force, like Navy, is a superior running team. Air Force ranks ninth in the nation in rushing yards per game and third in rushing attempts, so it’s fair to say that Notre Dame will have to come up with another solid ground defense to keep the Falcons from getting into the end zone.
