A Notre Dame Home Win At Long Last!!

Notre Dame got it’s second win of the season at home in South Bend, beating the Duke Blue Devils 28-7 in what this blogger will excitedly and unexpectedly describe as a rout. Quarterback Jimmy Clausen threw three touchdowns, no interceptions. He completed 16 of 32 passes for 194 yards. Not only was Jimmy doing well at throwing, but the offensive line was allowing Notre Dame rushers to see daylight for what must have been the first time in the 2007-’08 season. Notre Dame’s rushers racked up 220 yards on 48 total carries. That kind of production used to take three games for the Irish to accomplish.

With just over a minute to go, Duke was able to break what would have been a 28-0 shutout for the Irish. Although that would have been pretty, this blogger believes that Notre Dame Nation is simply ecstatic with the outcome regardless. The win over UCLA was one where the critics were pointing to the injuries and turnovers as the main factors. This game was as pure and solid a victory you could imagine. Duke is not the best team in the nation, to be sure. However, you can clearly see the improvement that the team has shown since the very first weeks of the season.
