Notre Dame Finishes Regular Season with Win over USF

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have finished the regular season. Now all that remains is the Tournaments- first the Big East at Madison Square Garden, and then the NCAA Tournament, where Joe Lunardi has the Irish slated as a No. 4 seed in Dallas. But we’re already getting way too far ahead of ourselves. Let’s keep focused on what the Irish were able to accomplish over the weekend. They went to Tampa, Florida and beat the University of South Florida 67-60. The Irish jumped out to an early lead in the game, but with just a few minutes remaining the Bulls of South Florida had closed the gap to just one. However, Notre Dame turned on the after burners to pull away for their school record 14th Big East win of the season.

Things are looking very good for the Irish right now. They are on a hot streak, they’ve tuned up versus some so-so teams at the end of the year, and now they are all healthy, rested and fired up for the Big East Tournament. And it should be a great Tournament. The Irish can take solace in knowing that, even if they have a poor showing at Madison Square Garden, they are still almost certain to get a Tournament seed better than No. 10.
