Irish Women’s Soccer Undefeated, Untied Heading into Big East Tourney

Notre Dame football might get all the headlines, but the other type of football, soccer that is, should be getting all the praise. The Irish women’s soccer team is heading into the Big East Soccer Tournament with a perfect 18-0-0 record, the best in the Big East, and a No. 1 national ranking. The team basically looks unstoppable. They will enter the Conference Tourney with a first round bye and play the winner of the Cincinnati-St. John’s game in the second round. Clearly, Notre Dame is expected to dominant the tournament just like they have been dominating the Big East all season. They are, of course, a perfect 11-0 versus the Big East this year.

The streaks that the women’s soccer team currently own are simply mind-boggling. They’ve won 28-straight regular season games. Senior forward Kerri Hanks has scored at least one goal in the past 14 games. The Irish are unbeaten in their past 84 home games against Big East teams. Look for the Irish to do well in the Conference Tournament, and then follow the action into the NCAA Tournament, where the games should be as intense as ever!
