The weekend is almost here, and sports fever should be setting in nicely around South Bend. On Friday night the women’s soccer team will begin their quest for the NCAA National Championship by playing their opening round game of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament at Alumni Field. The Irish enter the game with a No. 1 ranking, a No. 1 seed. They play Toledo. If you have been following the soccer team this season, you are probably well aware of the severe beat down that the Irish are going to give Toledo, so you’d better show up and root for the Lady Irish.
In other sports news (as if you hadn’t heard) the football team is playing Navy this Saturday. Hope you got airfare and tickets to the game already, because it should be a dandy. Notre Dame has a long history with the military institutions, so the Navy game will not be without pageantry. Navy’s pretty good, although their schedule has not been as fierce as the Irish’s schedule. Navy enters the game at 6-3, leading the independent schools in overall record. This will be the first game of the season between two independents.
