“Still Breathing” Notre Dame to Play West Virginia on Wednesday

Notre Dame is “still breathing” according to ESPN’s Weekly Watch by Andy Katz. Apparently the Irish’s home win versus Louisville and their next home win against South Florida put the Irish on the radar of at least one famous college basketball writer.  That the Irish are still breathing is of course a good thing, considering the situation the team was in on Wednesday of last week. Still, breathing won’t get you into the Tournament, which is why the Irish need to come out strong this Wednesday against West Virginia.

Let’s look at some of the West Virginia basics. Right now the Mountaineers occupy the spot directly above the Irish in the Big East standings. They’re 6-6 in conference and 17-8 overall. The biggest scoring threat Notre Dame will have to look out for is DaSean Butler, also one of the best rebounders on the team. Devin Ebanks will cause trouble down low as well. It will be imperative that Notre Dame keep Luke Harangody in the game and playing defense.
