Lou Holtz: Not Running for Congress

Former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz will not seek a congressional seat this next election cycle, according to a South Bend radio Station. WNDU-TV of South Bend, Indiana reported that while in Michigan recently the former coach and current ESPN football analyst is not going to run for congress in a central Florida congressional district currently occupied by Democrat Representative Suzanne Kosmas.

Holtz had been rumored to be considering running for office. According to the AP, a Republican strategist has said that Holtz considered running for congress, but now that idea has been put to rest. Holtz said that he needs to focus on his current job as a football analyst.

Do you think Holtz would make a good politician? Clearly he’s a conservative and would have run as a member of the GOP. It’s tough to say what kind of platform he would run on, what his angle might be, but then again it’s all speculative now because Holtz doesn’t intend to run.
